- Please provide a clear workspace. I will need to move your piano’s casework, so all objects, decorations or ornaments should be removed from your piano prior to my arrival.
- Please also provide the quietest working environment possible, as any noise will adversely affect the quality of services (particularly tuning and voicing). Examples of environmental noise include the sound of: televisions; radios and speakers; vacuum-cleaners; washing machines; dishwashers; lawn-mowers; etc.
- Payment is accepted by the following methods:
- Bank Transfer (BACS)
- Cash
- Cheque
- Deposits are not required for most appointments. Exceptions may include jobs lasting a whole day or more, or jobs where parts or supplies need to be ordered specially.
- I invite all customers to inspect the quality of my work prior to payment of an invoice. Payment then signifies the customer’s satisfaction with all services provided. Any future work must be completed under a new booking and a separate fee unless a clear error has later become apparent.
- No future appointments can be made while any outstanding payments remain.
- Cancellation more than 72 hours before an appointment will not incur a fee.
- Cancellation less than 72 hours before an appointment may incur a fee of 50% of your quoted price.

If nobody is in or otherwise able to provide me access to your premises when I arrive at the scheduled time, a missed appointment fee of 50% of your quoted price (plus any relevant long-distance charge) will be incurred.
It is not uncommon for parts to break during the servicing of a piano (particularly with older instruments). Certain tasks often place parts under greater stress than they may have seen for some time (most typically, the strings during a tuning). As a qualified professional, I cannot be held liable for any breakages provided that the correct techniques and working materials have been used. The customer acknowledges that any such unforeseen repair work will require a separate charge.
Unfortunately, the condition of some pianos means that it is simply not practical or safe to service them. Although I am always happy to do what I can to make any instrument fit-for-purpose, there are occasions when the cost of such work would clearly exceed that of a replacement piano. Furthermore, many older and/or damaged instruments have a very limited potential for tone and function, even if they are able to be serviced.
At times such as these, I will make the situation clear to the customer before asking whether they would still like me to proceed. If work does not go ahead then a call-out fee of £50 (plus any relevant Travel Charge) will apply. However, within this charge I will gladly offer advice regarding the best courses of action available.
